Understanding our refund and cancellation policy

Important Notice

LPU NSS operates under the National Service Scheme, a Government of India initiative. As per government guidelines and NSS regulations, refunds are processed only under specific circumstances outlined below.

1. Overview

This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which refunds are processed for event registrations on the LPU NSS platform. Please read this policy carefully before registering for any paid events.

By completing a registration and payment, you acknowledge and accept this Refund Policy.

2. General No-Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued for user-initiated cancellations

Once you have successfully registered and paid for an event, the registration fee is non-refundable if you choose to cancel your participation for any personal reason.

Reasons for No-Refund Policy:

  • NSS is a government scheme with specific budget allocations
  • Event planning and resource allocation are done based on confirmed registrations
  • Materials, venues, and logistics are arranged in advance
  • Administrative costs are incurred immediately upon registration

3. Event Cancellation by LPU NSS

Full refund if event is cancelled by LPU NSS

If LPU NSS cancels an event due to unforeseen circumstances, all registered participants will receive a full refund of their registration fee.

Circumstances for Event Cancellation:

  • Natural disasters or extreme weather conditions
  • Government orders or university directives
  • Insufficient registrations to conduct the event
  • Unavailability of venue or key resources
  • Health and safety concerns
  • Any other force majeure events

4. Refund Process

If an event is cancelled by LPU NSS and you are eligible for a refund, the following process will be followed:

Notification

You will be notified via email and SMS about the event cancellation and refund eligibility.

Automatic Processing

Refunds will be automatically initiated to the original payment method used during registration.

Processing Time

Refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days from the date of event cancellation.

Credit to Account

The refund amount will be credited to your bank account/card within 5-7 business days after processing, depending on your bank.

5. Free Events

For events with no registration fee (free events), no refund is applicable as no payment is collected.

However, you are still expected to attend if registered, or inform us in advance if unable to attend, to allow others to participate.

6. Event Rescheduling

If an event is rescheduled to a different date or time:

  • Your registration will automatically be transferred to the new date
  • You will be notified of the new schedule via email and SMS
  • If you cannot attend the rescheduled event, you may request a refund within 48 hours of the rescheduling notification
  • Refund requests after 48 hours will not be entertained

7. Payment Gateway Charges

In case of refunds, please note:

  • Payment gateway charges (if any) are non-refundable
  • The refund amount may be slightly less than the paid amount due to transaction charges
  • LPU NSS is not responsible for any charges levied by your bank or payment provider

8. Exceptions and Special Cases

Refunds may be considered in the following exceptional circumstances:

  • Medical Emergency: Documented medical emergency preventing attendance (requires medical certificate)
  • Technical Error: Duplicate payment or system error (requires proof)
  • University Exam Clash: Official university exam scheduled on the same date (requires exam schedule proof)

All exception requests must be submitted within 24 hours of registration with supporting documents to nss@lpu.co.in

9. How to Request a Refund

If you believe you are eligible for a refund under the circumstances mentioned above:

  1. Send an email to nss@lpu.co.in
  2. Subject: "Refund Request - [Event Name] - [Your Registration Number]"
  3. Include:
    • Your full name and registration number
    • Event name and date
    • Transaction ID and payment proof
    • Reason for refund request
    • Supporting documents (if applicable)
  4. Wait for confirmation email (within 3-5 business days)
  5. If approved, refund will be processed as per the timeline mentioned above
